Darwin Lee Mohlenbrock

Darwin Lee Mohlenbrock, (Dar), age 54, passed away at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Le Sueur on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 while surrounded by family and friends.

Services will be held at Sunrise Assembly of God, 722 Sunrise Drive, Saint Peter. Visitation 6-8pm on Friday, February 8. Visitation 10-11am on Saturday, February 9. Service at 11am. There will be a meal following the service. The St Peter Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

Darwin was born on November 17, 1964 in Mountain Lake, Minnesota to Henry and Joan (Lade) Mohlenbrock. He graduated from Mountain Lake High School in 1984. On February 27, 1993 he married Kendra Bidwell and together they created a beautiful family.

He was very active in his church, singing on the worship team, greeting people at the door, serving as an usher, volunteering at the church’s Royal Family Kids Camp, and in general making people feel welcome and loved. Dar loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He spent many years playing basketball with his church team and participating in annual tournaments in Fergus Falls. He enjoyed singing and would often sing karaoke. Friends remember him singing “My Maria” and “Blue Suede Shoes” the most.

In 2011 Darwin was diagnosed with sinus and brain cancer. He declared himself The Warrior at the very beginning of his battle against cancer and he fought hard to the very end. He will always be remembered as the man with the biggest smile and the even bigger heart. His positive attitude and faith in Jesus were an inspiration to many.

Darwin is survived by the love of his life, Kendra Bidwell of St Peter MN, his daughter Cassandra Mohlenbrock (special friend, Markus Morris) of St Peter MN, his son Christopher Mohlenbrock (special friend Jenna Iverson) of Henderson, MN, his granddaughter Elizabeth Mohlenbrock, age 6, sisters Debra (Darrell) Miller of Welcome MN, Gail (Claude) Rasche of Colorado, Corinne (Rick) Firme of New Richland, MN, and sister-in-law Michele Mohlenbrock of Mountain Lake, MN, father-in-law Warren (Gloria) Bidwell of New Ulm, mother-in-law Meredith McLaughlin of St Peter, MN, brothers-in-law Michael (Kim) Bidwell of Willmar, MN, Daniel (Josee) Bidwell of Mankato, MN, Joseph Bidwell (fiancé Colleen Bade) of Eagle Lake, MN, sister-in-law Katherine (Stevenlee) Anderson of Kasota, MN, and many nieces and nephews.

He will be greeted in heaven by his father, Henry George Mohlenbrock, mother, Joan Helen (Lade) Mohlenbrock Hansen, brother Daryl Eugene Mohlenbrock, “adopted” brother Dave Durham, and good friend Mike Sawatzky (Oz).
