Marilyn Bresnahan

November 1, 1932 — August 19, 2018

Marilyn Bresnahan, age 85 of St. Peter, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Oak Terrace in Le Sueur.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Catholic Church of St. Peter with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, St. Peter.  Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Hospice.  St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Marilyn was born November 1, 1932 in St. Peter to Charles A. and Charlotte G. (Fiedler) Frawley. She attended St. Peter Schools, graduating in 1950. With her father’s passing on D-Day during WWII, she helped her mother take care of her siblings. She attended the MN School of Business, receiving her certificate as a secretary. Over the years she worked at Green Giant, MN School Board Association, Minnesota State in Mankato, and at Gustavus Adolphus College. While working at the colleges, she enjoyed being a mentor and helper to all students.

Marilyn was united in marriage to John Bresnahan on August 14, 1954 in St. Peter and they made their home in St. Peter. She was active in many ways with the church, with PEO and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed birds (especially cardinals), knitting, baking banana bread, traveling, and shopping.  Marilyn was proud of her Irish heritage so being selected as the 2011 St. Patrick’s Day Queen in St. Peter was a great honor for her.

Left to remember Marilyn are her children: Barbara (Larry) Wood, Mike (Vicki), Patty (Mark) Chouanard-McAdam and Paul (Alice); grandchildren: Christopher (Penny), Nathan (fiancé Merryssa), Miranda, Bethany, Jacob, Taylor, Kallin, Sarah, Katelyn and Jessica; brothers: Charles (Joyce) and Henry “Tim” (Elizabeth); sister: Charlotte Ann Bennett; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, William Stotz; husband, John in 2006; son, David in 1982; and brother, William in 2009.

The family would like to thank the staff of Mayo Hospice, Oak Terrace Le Sueur and Benedictine Living Community for their compassionate care of Marilyn.
