Wayne Aaron Willson, age 82, died Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at his home in Kasota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28 at the Catholic Church of St. Peter (1801 W. Broadway Ave) in St. Peter. Visitation will be at the church from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, July 27 and will resume on Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Kasota Hill Cemetery in Kasota. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting Wayne’s family with arrangements.
Wayne was born April 25, 1936 to Grover and Bessie (Buckles) Willson in Kasota. He was born and raised in Kasota, and resided in the community until his passing. Wayne married Joyce Vogt on October 5, 1957 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Peter. He worked at Crown Cork and Seal (formerly known as Continental Can) for 47 years. Wayne served his community on the Kasota Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years and he was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter. Wayne was an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman, he enjoyed playing cards and going to the casino, and most of all, he will be remembered for being a, “huge family dude.”
Wayne is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce; son, Gregory “Greg”; daughters, Katherine “Kathy” (Galen) Anderson and Christine “Chris” (Michael “Mosh”) Thomas; grandchildren, Wayne Anderson and Emily (Jedd) Edel; sister, Eva Butterfield; brother, William “Bill”; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Baby Boy Anderson; brothers, Bob, Dan, Warren, and Lee; and sisters, Dorothy and Rhoda.
