Thomas “Tom” Ryan of Zimmerman, MN, lost his battle with depression on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the age of 40.
Tom was born on December 28, 1977 in Mankato, MN to Donald and Eileen (Pauly) Ryan. Tom was the youngest of seven children. Tom attended St. Peter schools, Rochester Community College, and Mankato State. Tom married Elizabeth Johnson on September 1, 2007 in Princeton, MN. He worked at the Minnesota Security Hospital and Shotguns Plus in St. Peter, MN before moving to Zimmerman, MN in 2006 to manage his wife’s family business, Johnson’s Hardware Hank. Tom was an active committee member for Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and he was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus. He also was a member of the St. Peter Police Reserve. Tom was a dedicated husband and father. He adored his daughter and he loved wildlife.
Tom is survived by wife, Elizabeth; daughter, Megan; mother, Eileen; sisters, Jeanine Nistler of Roseville, MN, Lisa (Jim) Widmer of New Prague, MN, Colleen (Don) Schoenecker of New Prague, Carla (Tim) Gamradt of Wrenshall, MN, and Maureen (Dan) Pettis of St. Peter; brother, Dean of St. Peter; parents-in-law, Kevin and Maggie Johnson of Zimmerman; brother and sister-in-law, Matt and Molly Johnson of Zimmerman; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many other friends and family. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Donald Ryan and grandparents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, June 1 at 11 a.m. at the Catholic Church of St. Peter in St. Peter. Visitation will be Thursday, May 31 from 5-8 p.m. at the St. Peter Funeral Home in St. Peter and will resume at the church on Friday at 9 a.m. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in St. Peter.
