Mary Ethel Liestman

Mary Ethel Liestman, age 85 of Kasota, died on March 1, 2018 in Mankato.

Funeral Service will be 12:00 noon on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at St. Peter Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:30 am.

Mary Ethel was born on March 14, 1932 in rural Bueaford, MN to John “Jack” and Lillian (Ferguson) Denn and attended schools in the Mapleton area. In June of 1950 she married Daniel Shelton. She later married Richard J. Liestman on September 3, 1973. Mary owned and operated an upholstery business, cooked pies for Big John’s Restaurant in St. Peter, and also was a cook at Gustavus Adolphus College. She was a member of the YMCA Swimming Club and the Gustavus Golden Oldies. She enjoyed swimming and water aerobics, as well as being in the outdoors.

Left to remember Mary are her children: LaVern D. (Maryann) Shelton, Lawrence R. “Sid” Shelton, Laurel J. Shelton, Lynn M. (Mark) Nielson, Susan E. (Darrell) Ridgway, Janice R. Shelton and Mary Jo “Jody” (Doug) Willson; grandchildren: Jeremy, Jenny, Tori, Trudy, Sara, Erica, Sara, Tim, Jeffrey, Angie, Andrew “Bud”, Anthony “Bucky”, Jon, Jan, Chris, Candace, Vernon, and Joey; 43 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sister: Joyce Goettle; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her son, Samuel D. Shelton; two husbands; and her companion the last four years, Duane Volk.
