David Gordon Ferguson, age 86 of Cleveland, died on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.
Memorial service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Cleveland with visitation at 10:00 am. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
David was born December 19, 1930 to John and Violet Ferguson in Grafton, ND. He grew up in Park River, ND and graduated from high school in 1948. David enlisted in the United States Navy and served as an electrician in the Submarine Service. He served on the USS Cobbler and was later recalled due to the Korean Conflict and served on the USS Queenfish. David was a member of the Cleveland American Legion and was involved in area veterans groups and programs.
David worked in the grain elevator business. While at Cargill in Alpha MN, he met and married Thelma Bond on June 4, 1955. They enjoyed living in Avon, SD and Madison Lake, MN until moving to Cleveland in the early 1960’s. David worked at Archer Daniels Midland in Mankato until his retirement.
David is survived by his wife, Thelma; brother, Bill Ferguson of Brighton CO; son, Patrick (Maria) Ferguson of Le Sueur; Daughters: Jill (John) Gatzke of St. Peter and Paula (Charles) White of Palm Coast FL; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; son, Douglas Ferguson; and many good friends.
