Bonnie Shumski, age 71 of St. Peter, died Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Rivers Edge Hospital in St. Peter. Memorial service is 11:00 am Friday, September 8, 2017 at St. Peter Funeral Home with visitation on hour prior.
Bonnie was born on July, 10, 1946 in Ohio to Norval and Sarah (McKibben) Gochanour. She was raised and attended school in Armstrong Iowa where she played basketball and set many school and state records. She married Vern Shumski in 1966 and they later divorced. She then met Richard Hastings and they were companions in life until his passing in 2003. Bonnie worked as a typesetter for the Home Magazine, Mankato Free Press and Fairmont Sentinel. She loved crocheting, cross-stitching, playing cards, cribbage, gambling and watching Lynx Basketball. Most importantly, she enjoyed time with her family.
Left to remember Bonnie are her children: Sandra (Michael) Miller, Scott (Mona), Shane (Bambi), Stanci (Daniel) Harroun, Sara (Gary) Harroun and Stephanie (Lloyd) Roberts; 19 grandchildren: 9 great grandchildren; siblings: Gwen Gochanour, Patricia Helagson, Noel (Marcia) Gochanour and Marcia (Ken) Morphew; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Vern, companion Richard and a grandson Bryson Shumski.
