Francis “Bud” McCabe passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017.  Funeral services will be held at Church of the Nativity, Cleveland, MN at 11:00 AM Saturday.  Visitation will be from 9:00AM - 11:00AM at the church prior to the mass.

Bud was the youngest of five children born to John B. McCabe and Florence Meyer McCabe on January 14, 1932 at the home of his parents.

Bud attended school at the Cleveland #391 Consolidated School and graduated from Cleveland High School in 1950.  He was an avid basketball and football athlete and enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow classmates.

Following high school he continued farming on the family farms and remained involved in both dairy and crop farming.

Bud was active in church activities and served two terms on the church board at Nativity.  He served 25 years as a member of the Cleveland Town Board, was a member of the St. Peter Knights of Columbus and the Cleveland Sportsman’s Club.  Bud was a kind and gentle soul, a friend to many, and a caring neighbor.  His greatest possession and source of pride was his family.

Francis married Maureen Schabert at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Peter on October 30, 1952 and was blessed with the gift of a family of five, LeEllen (Ed) Hammer, Lakeville, MN; Jerome (Helen) McCabe, Le Center, MN; Mary Jo Baatz, (Apple Valley); Anne (Robert) Hagen, Lakeville, MN; Patrick (Randi) McCabe, Cleveland, MN.  Grandchildren include Joe (Nikki) Franciskovich, Los Angeles, CA; Stephanie McCabe, Oklahoma City, OK; Kevin McCabe, Cleveland; Brayden and Clare McCabe, Cleveland.  Great grandchildren include Avalie and Michael Franciskovich.  Bud is survived by two sisters, Harriet Schmidt of LeCenter and Marion Kienlen, St. Peter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law John Baatz, brothers John and Emmet McCabe.
