Jack C. Leverson

Jack C. Leverson, age 94 of Mankato, died Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Oaklawn Health Care Center.

Memorial service will be 2:30 pm Saturday, January 14, 2017 at St. Peter Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00pm. Private family burial will take place at a later date.

Jack Clark was born January 18, 1922 in Kasota to Curtis and Beulah M. (Nason) Leverson. As a child, he entertained with the Leverson Dance Band during the 30’s and 40’s. He served in the US Navy Air Corp during WWII and was wounded in service. Jack returned home and was united in marriage to Joycelle A. Olsen on June 23, 1946 at Norseland Lutheran Church. He worked at the Leverson Meat Market in the 40’s and 50’d before becoming a market manager for Red Owl, Piggly Wiggly and later Erickson’s in St. Peter. He was a member of the St. Peter Drum and Bugle Corp, a volunteer on the St. Peter Fire Department and a member of the St. Peter Last Man’s Club. He and Joy retired in 1983 to Harlingen TX and enjoyed their time there until moving back to Mankato in 1998 to be closer to family.

Jack is remembered by his sons: Richard “Rick” of North Mankato and Scott (Mavis) of Elysian; 1 grandson, Grant; sister Mary Jane of Iowa City; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joycelle in 2003; a son, John Elmo; brothers: his twin Gene, and Bruce.
