Marlin Laverne Knutson

Marlin Laverne Knutson, 81, of St. Peter, Minnesota, passed away on December 2, 2016 at Benedictine Living Center surrounded by his loving family.

Marlin, a proud Army veteran, was born on September 21, 1935 to Lester and Elsie Knutson of Rapidan, MN.  In his adult life, he worked at the St. Peter Regional Treatment Center for 27 years. Marlin enjoyed a variety of hobbies that especially included fishing, hunting, watching sporting events,  and raising animals, as he was actively involved in 4-H for 30 years with his family, time which he deeply treasured. Marlin was incredibly proud of his children’s successes in life, as well as his grandchildren’s life ventures.

He is preceded in death by his son Danny; parents; and brother-in-law Morris Fessler.
Marlin will be dearly missed by his wife of 56 years, Lorraine; son Scott (Barbara) Knutson and their children Matthew, Rachel, and Laura; daughter Kelly (Michael) Schutz; daughter Linda (Jeff) Anderson and their children Jennifer, Sarah (Chris) Hengel, and Melissa; daughter Brenda Knutson; daughter Carol (Dan) Wheeler and their children Katherine and Jeremy; daughter Joan (Todd) Golle and their daughter Alexa; son Brian (Heidi) Knutson and their children Jacob and Kayla; sister-in-law Darlene (Morris) Fessler; and 4 nephews and 3 nieces.

A funeral service for Marlin will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at First Lutheran Church in St. Peter, MN, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Rapidan, MN. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday evening at the St. Peter Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday.
