Naomi Ann Kind

May 13, 1933 — July 25, 2016

Naomi Ann (Pilgrim) Kind, age 83 of St. Peter, died peacefully on Monday, July 25, 2016 at her home at Ecumen Prairie Hill.

Naomi was born on May 13, 1933, in St. Paul, MN, to Paulus and Elsie (Bartz) Pilgrim. She graduated from Hector High School in 1951, attended Gustavus Adolphus College, and completed her RN degree at Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. On June 10, 1956 she married Gene Robert Kind. They settled in St. Peter, MN, where he was a veterinarian for 50 years.

Naomi was a gardener who mastered growing spectacular roses as well as yummy strawberries, raspberries, and vegetables. Summer dinners at the Kind’s house were the best! Naomi and Gene loved to travel. Adventures included: Australia, New Zealand, Nova Scotia, in addition to winter road trips to warm destinations to visit family and friends. Naomi was a beautiful singer, an ability she kept until close to her death. She enjoyed being around family, especially at the annual week up north.

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Ecumen Prairie Hill, especially to the current and past staff in memory care for their love, dedication, and for making Prairie Hill Naomi's "home."

Naomi is preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by children Steven (Debra), Karen, and Christopher (Pamela); grandchildren Maren and Abigail; brothers Paulus (Gladys) Pilgrim, James (Nancy) Pilgrim, Mark (Brenda) Pilgrim, and Joel (Linda) Pilgrim; and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be at 9:30am followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 10:30am on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 1735 E Main St, Mankato. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association, Resurrection Lutheran Church, or Bethany Lutheran College. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
