Ralph McCabe

Ralph McCabe, 81 of St. Peter, passed away April 24, 2016. Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 am Saturday, April 30, 2015, at the Church of St. Peter, St. Peter. Visitation is 4-7 Friday and 10 am Saturday all at the church. Prayer service is Friday at 7:00 pm at the church. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with services.

Ralph was born on March 25, 1935 in St. Peter to Ambrose and Margaret (Germscheid) McCabe. He served his country in the US Army and Reserves for 6 years. Ralph was employed by A.H. Hermel at age 16 and in 1970 started Ralph’s Sales, retiring in 2001. Ralph was united in marriage to Donna Belle Kewitsch on September 19, 1957 at St. Henry’s in Le Sueur County. They made their home in St. Peter together until her passing in 2005. After retiring Ralph worked as a cook at Hermies in St. Peter. He was active over the years in the St. Peter Drum and Bugle Corps, big Lou’s Band, the St. Peter Valley Archers and the American Legion. He enjoyed cooking and canning, gathering with friends and family, hunting and fishing.

Ralph is survived by his sons: Ambrose (Schelli), Rick (Patrice), Don (Loni), Ron (Gretchen) and Billy (Dawn); grandchildren: Marty, Ryan, Collin, Keegan, Jill (Tony) Schaffer, Dustin, Logan, Brayden, Chase, Kasandra, Adam, Erin (Nick) Strand, Amanda (Tyler) Rodning, Danny, Nicole, Joey and Jonny; great grandchildren: Owen, Alex, Isaac and Tori; siblings: Rosie Fredrickson, Betty Koch, Margaret Lind and Donna Frey; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife and a grandson: James McCabe.
