Nancy Merle (Sparks) Vetter, age 69 of Kasota, died Friday, February 19, 2016 at the River’s Edge Hospital in St. Peter. Private family services will be held at a later date when she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Jim.
Nancy was born August 3, 1946 in St. Paul to Kenneth and Grace Sparks. She grew up in Arden Hills MN and attended Mounds View High School, graduating in 1964 and then attended Mankato State College. She met James Vetter and married him on July 12, 1969. They made their home in Kasota. She was employed at Hubbard Milling early in their marriage, but settled in as a housewife. Besides fishing and outdoor activities with Jim, she also enjoyed gardening, sewing and taking care of their dogs. Nancy never forgot anyone’s birthday or special occasion and sent a card or called to wish them the best. Her competitive spirit always came through when you played her in board games; and her nieces and nephews will remember her for her robust laughter and quick wit.
Left to cherish her memory are her siblings: Doug (Barb), Cindy, Dennis and Diane; father-in-law: Walter Vetter of Kasota; siblings-in-law: Kathy (Dean) Steiner of St. Peter and Jerry (Cathy) Vetter of North Mankato; nephews and nieces: Jaclynn, Kristine, Michelle, Tyrone, Cheryl, Brandon and Kimberly, Mark, Andrew and Steven Giebel; Michael, Erika, Lucy and Ty Steiner; Dustin, Anthony and Aydon Vetter; Ryan and Annie Vetter; Jason and Jaimie Vetter;
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim on February 1; her parents; and mother-in-law, Bernice Vetter; aunts and uncles.
