Johnna Schmidt

Johnna Schmidt, age 77 of St. Peter, passed away on Friday, January 29th, 2016 at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter. Private family services were held with the assistance of St. Peter Funeral Home. It was Johnna's wish that any memorials be directed to Mayo Clinic Health System ~ Hospice.

 Johnna was born to Matthew and Irva (McCallum) Keogh on December 20th, 1938 in Minneapolis. Upon graduation from Roosevelt High School, she attended Mankato State University where she received her teaching degree.

 Johnna married Donald P. Schmidt at St. Helena’s Catholic Church in Minneapolis on August 20th, 1960. They made their home in St. Peter, and Johnna spent the majority of her career teaching English at Le Center High School until her retirement. Johnna enjoyed reading, traveling, watching the Vikings and Timberwolves, and spending time with her family and friends.

 Left to cherish her memory are her children: Deborah Schmidt Erickson (Rick) of Northfield and Steven Schmidt of St. Peter; grandchildren: Victoria and Kayla Erickson; and many extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 1999.
