Lois M. Pettis

Lois M. Pettis, age 84 of St. Peter, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 4, 2015. Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter, with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, St. Peter. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday at the church with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Lois Marie was born on September 6, 1931 in St. Peter to Hugo and Teresa (Knish) Stangler. She graduated from Good Counsel Academy in Mankato and went on to the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul. On June 26, 1951 she was united in marriage to Carl "Bud" Pettis at the Church of the Immaculate Conception (St. Mary's) in St. Peter. She was the director of music at the Church of St. Mary's in St. Peter, and later the funeral choir at the Church of St. Peter. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and was a 4-H leader focusing on conservation. She was a farm housewife who enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, canning fruits and vegetables, fishing and playing cards. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Barbara (Colin) Harris, Mary (Randy) Pettis Pearson, David (Julie) Pettis, Ruth (Tim) Collins, Rita (Tim) Wadekamper, Mark (Patricia) Pettis, Sarah (David) Card and Rachel (Charles) More; 24 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brother: William (Barbara) Stangler; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, "Bud."
