L. Dorohy Johnson Rud

L. "Dorothy" Johnson Rud, 94 of Brainerd, formerly of St. Peter, died Friday, September 4, 2015 in Brainerd. Celebration of Life will be 12:00 pm Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Leona Dorothy Verlinda was born on November 6, 1920 in New Ulm to Martin and Hilda (Johnson) Sandeen. She attended St. Peter Public School, graduating in 1938. Dorothy was united in marriage to Arthur M Johnson on August 15, 1943. She was employed in housekeeping at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter for 20 years before retiring. Arthur died in 1980 and she married Martin Rud in 1984. Dorothy relocated to Brainerd to be closer to family and resided there until her passing. She enjoyed socializing, playing cards with her grandchildren, traveling, making lefse and was always willing to help by giving rides or making meals. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. Left to remember Dorothy are her son: Steve (Jan) Johnson of Baxter MN; grandchildren: Lt Col. Mitch Johnson of Fargo and Molly (Pete) Morse of Albany OR; and great grandchildren: Riley and Jack Johnson and Wyatt and Paige Morse. She was preceded in death by husbands Arthur and Martin; four brothers and two sisters.
