Robert J. Vogel, age 82, of St. Peter, died Monday, August 10, 2015, at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2015, at the Church of St. Paul in Nicollet, with Rev. Todd Petersen officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in St. Peter. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at St. Peter Funeral Home, with a 6:30 p.m. Prayer Service. Visitation continues one hour prior to the mass at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor's choice. Robert was born August 21, 1932, in St. Peter to Ernest and Lucille (Pufpaff) Vogel. He attended John Ireland Catholic School and also country school. Robert was united in marriage to Ila Spencer on December 24, 1954, in Mankato. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 until 1956. Robert was a life-long farmer in Oshawa Township. Robert was a member of the Church of St. Paul in Nicollet and the Redmen Club. He enjoyed camping, playing cards, gardening, and spending winters in Texas. Robert is survived by his three children, Neal (Sally) Vogel, Mike (Nancy) Vogel all of St. Peter, and Judy (Paul) Williams of Shakopee; special friend, Rita Betzing of St. Peter; four grandchildren, Mindy Vogel, Gretchen Vogel, Ryan (Megan) Selly, and Tiffany (Brian) Schmidt; six great-grandchildren, Jalyn, Liana, and Nolan Selly, and Brynleigh, Brenna, and Brody Schmidt; siblings, Margaret (Ray) Griep of LeSueur, Charles (Kathy) Vogel of St. Peter, Don Vogel of LeSueur, Barb (Bill) Heyn of LeSueur, and Marleen Peacock of Oregon; also many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ila in 2013; and two sisters, Evelyn Braun and Elvera Wendelschafer.
