Dorothy Richter

June 9, 1927 — August 3, 2015

Dorothy M. Richter, age 88 of St. Peter, died on Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at the Church of Christ in Cleveland. Visitation will be from 10:00 until the start of the service at the church. Interment will be at Savidge Lake Cemetery, Cleveland. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Dorothy Mae was born on June 9, 1927 in Decorah Iowa to Willie Cornelius and Myrtle Olive (Olson) Williams. She was baptized at the West Center Baptist Church in Madison SD and is a 1945 graduate of Eastern High School in Madison. She was united in marriage to Lowen Richter on March 10, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison. After they married, they lived in Madison on a farm about two miles from the Richter homestead and Dorothy was pianist for the church choir at West Center Baptist. Following Lowen's back operation and completion of his program at Pipestone Vocational School, the family moved to Cleveland MN, where Lowen was employed and they resided there until 2003. They then moved to St. Peter to continue to enjoy their retirement. During retirement, they enjoyed taking trips and watching the grandchildren grow up including attending their school and athletic activities. She was a music lover and enjoyed baking and eating sweets. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Cleveland where she participated in Dorcas Circle and was organist for many, many years. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 64 years, Lowen; Children: Greg (Paula) of Buffalo SD, Larry (Steve Brandt) of Palm Springs CA, Jolene (Dan) Christensen of Madison Lake, Lana (Mike) Wenner of Nicollet and Lori (Kurt) Zins of Nicollet; Grandchildren: Ty (Cathy) Richter and Cole (Jody) Richter, Jacquelyn and Briana Christensen and Izze Christensen (Drew) Johnson, Tyler and Kayla Wenner, Jack and Ben Zins; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dalton Williams.
