Ronald Joseph Wenthe, age 72, of Mankato, formerly of St. Peter, died Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Autumn Grace in Mankato. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 13, 2015, at St. Peter Funeral Home - Klein Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Rock Island, IL. Ronald was born January 1, 1943, to Ralph Wenthe and Elsie Jensen. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1960 until 1966. Ron met Caroline Hylton and they shared a life of 36 years together. They started multiple businesses together in Eldora, IA and Mason City, IA. Ron and Caroline moved to Mankato in 1986 and opened Ron's Pawn Shop. Ron enjoyed fishing, animals, playing poker, and watching baseball, especially the MN Twins. He found his faith later in life and read the Bible every day before he passed. Ron had a giving and charitable spirit and was cherished by his family and many friends made throughout his years. Ron is survived by his daughter, Cindy Gilbert of North Mankato; daughter-in-law, Terri Stogdill of Mankato; five grandchildren, Honey (Travis) Burg of Mankato, Sarah (fiancé, Trent Adams) Gilbert of Iowa, Aaron Schwarck of North Mankato, Travis Stogdill of Mankato, and Deni Schlemmer of Mankato; and seven great-grandchildren. Ron also has two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Caroline in 2007; son, Rodney in 2003; and a brother, Robert in 2010.
