Kathleen Voss

Kathleen Voss, age 97 of St. Peter and formerly of Cleveland, died on Thursday, April 30, 2015 in St. Peter. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 6 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Cleveland with burial at Cleveland Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at St. Peter Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Kathleen was born on November 15, 1917 to Herman and Anna (Hermel) Zimmerman in Cleveland Township, Le Sueur County. She attended Cleveland Public School and graduated from high school in 1935. She attended Gustavus Adolphus College in 1939 and earned a BA Degree. She also attended Mankato State University from which she received a library and media science degree. She taught in high school in Harmony, Cleveland, and Le Center from where she retired in 1981. On June 26, 1941 she married Lee Voss in Las Vegas NV. After her husband returned from active duty in WWII, they spent most of their married life of 68 years on their farm in Cleveland Township . Kathleen was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where she had also been baptized and confirmed. She was a church organist, a member of the women's group, church librarian and Sunday School teacher. She also compiled the church history covering 136 years beginning in 1868. She was a member of the Extension Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, and Birthday Club. Throughout their married life, they traveled extensively, from New Zealand to Hawaii to Alaska and many of the other 48 states; Her and Lee spent many retirement winters in Mesa AZ. She had also traveled in Europe, especially Germany, Austria, and Poland. Kathleen enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, birds, traveling and genealogy. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Lee in 2009. She is survived by one son David (JoAnn) Voss of Cleveland; two granddaughters: Kelli (Tim) Fischer and Heidi (Andrew) Ladlie; three great grandchildren: Riley Fischer and Emmett and Ara Ladlie.
