Michael LeRoy Johnson, age 67 of Cleveland, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015 at his home. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Church of Nativity - Cleveland with Rev. Allan Paul Eilen officiating. Burial will be at Marysburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the church. St. Peter Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Michael LeRoy Johnson was born on October 31, 1947 in St. Peter to Arthur and Bernadine (Dadey) Johnson. He attended John Ireland School in St. Peter. The family moved to rural Cleveland where he graduated. He attended college in Mankato. Michael was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Mader on July 10, 1970. He worked as a carpenter until he retired in 2013. Mike battled cancer in 2010 and was declared cancer free this January. He and Ruth raised their sons in Cleveland. He enjoyed playing cards, watching western movies, spending time with his sons and grandchildren, meeting with the coffee crews. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a big-hearted person, loved to tell a good joke, had a comeback for anybody, and great story teller. Michael is survived by his loving wife Ruth; his sons, Christopher Johnson and Terrance (Tara) Johnson all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Nash Galles, Thad Johnson, Avien Johnson, and Gage Johnson; sister Barbara Wilmes of Vilonia, AR; brothers, Lawrence (Candy) Johnson and Mark (Nancy) Johnson all of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Ana Johnson of LeCenter. Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerome.
