C.W. "Tim" Johnson

C. W. "Tim" Johnson C. W. "Tim" Johnson, age 78 of St. Peter, died on Monday, October 20, 2014 at his home in St. Peter with his wife at his side. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter with burial at Calvary Cemetery, St. Peter. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:30 on Thursday at the church with a prayer service at 7:30pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. St. Peter Funeral Home ~ Klein Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Tim was born on May 26, 1936 to Elroy and Ann B. (Solmonson) Johnson in St. Peter. He attended Lake Prairie Country School for 8 years and graduated from St. Peter High School in 1955. Following graduation he proudly entered the US Army and was stationed in Germany. On June 6, 1959 he married the love of his life Beverly Ann Boys and together they raised four children. Tim was employed at ADC, Globemaster, Goldfines, Brown & Bigelow and Gustavus Adolphus College as postmaster and Student Union manager. He also served as coach for the Gustavus men's and women's bowling teams. He truly loved his job and after 21 years of service he retired. Tim enjoyed many hobbies: bowling, fishing, golfing, cards and photography; but most of all, the road trips to Fleet and Farm with Earl, Jerry and Spud. He loved watching and feeding the birds and squirrels. He was a lifelong member of the St. Peter Catholic Church where he was very active in the 4th degree Knights of Columbus. He was at one time charter president for Kiwanis of St. Peter and belonged to the American Legion Post 37, the Red Men and Le Center VFW. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Everyone who knew Tim was well aware of his gift to gab and his tall tales. Left to remember Tim are his loving wife of 55 years, Beverly; children: Colleen (Tim) Baker of Kasota, Tim (Casey) of Madison Lake, Patty (Tim) Allen of St. Michael, and Tom (Donna) of Omaha NE; grandchildren: Eric &Afton Baker, Danielle Gansen, Brianna Sinclair & Shayne Johnson, Taylor, Gavin & Jenna Allen, and Adrianne, Kayla, Kendra, Kira & Sydney Johnson; great grandchildren: Cash Gansen and Harlan Sinclair; Brother: Larry (Janice); sister: Lois Overson and Sandra Alt; many nieces ?phews; and longtime friend, Jerry Stamps. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, brother Buster and sister Betty Westerman and her husband Bill; and brothers-in-law Luverne Overson and Chuck Alt. We will miss Tim more than words can say and his memory will live on in all of us forever. Tim's family would like to express our thanks and gratitude to the wonderful staff of the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice and Home Instead Senior Care.
