Shirley Overn, 91, peacefully passed away on Monday, September 30, 2013 at Grandview Nursing Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, October 4 at St. Peter Catholic Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Burial will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery on Monday, October 7.
Shirley was born on July 22, 1922 to Joseph and Marguerite Terry in Le Center. She graduated from St. Peter High School. On January 1, 1942 she married Lawrence Overn. They started their life together in St. Paul, but returned to St. Peter after the war.
Mrs. Overn was a member of the Church of St. Peter Catholic Church, where she served on numerous guilds throughout the years. She was a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. Through the years she had many different hobbies, and always enjoyed a good game of cards. She also enjoyed several part-time jobs throughout her life. Her greatest enjoyment, however, came from spending time with her family.
Mrs. Overn is survived by 2 sons: Terry (Sherry) of Le Center, and Steve (Wayne Thompson) of St. Paul; 3 daughters: Sheila (Chuck) Alexander of Murfreesboro TN, Lorri (Bob) Duff of Pensacola FL, and Lisa Overn of Fenton MO; 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, and one brother.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
