Ellen Marso

Ellen Marso, age 102 of St. Peter, died on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at the Rivers Edge Hospital in St. Peter.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Monday, October 21, 2013 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter with burial at Calvary Cemetery, St. Peter. Visitation will be from 4:00 " 6:00 pm on Sunday at the church with a prayer service at 5:30pm. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ellen was born on November 27, 1910 to Helen (Brown) and William S. O'Brien at the corner of 3rd and Chestnut in St. Peter. She lived there for 94 years, in the home built by her grandfather. She was a graduate of John Ireland School, St. Peter High School and the College of St. Benedict in 1932. She worked in the family farm and dairy business. In 1948 she was united in marriage to Lawrence W. Marso of Mankato and worked with him at The National Tea Store at St. Peter. She was a member of the Church of St. Peter, the Catholic Daughters, and St. Mary's Guild. She was an avid reader, enjoyed horseback riding with her father, ballroom dancing with Lawrence and was proud of her family and Irish heritage.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence; her sisters: Anastasia Gleason and Mary (Mans) Nygaard, and son-in-law Charley Ingman. She is survived by daughters: Helen (Leo) Langer or Marshall and Mary Ingman of Mankato; son Paul (Linda) Marso of Minnetonka; and sister Florence Ryan of Hopkins, in addition to 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
