Robert Thieman, age 84 of St. Peter, died on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter with Fr. Todd Petersen officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the start of the service at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, St. Peter. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Robert was born on February 5, 1929 in St. Peter to Bernard and Rose (Wenisch) Thieman. He graduated from St. Peter High School and worked with his father at Thieman Dray until 1964. He then worked for MN DOT until his retirement. He served in the US Army deploying to Korea during the Korean Conflict before redeploying and completing over 30 continuous years of duty with the Minnesota National Guard and US Army Reserve. Robert was a member of the St. Peter VFW and American Legion and was active in the St. Peter Honor Guard, and other civic organizations, until his death. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, traveling and spectator sports. He especially liked following St. Peter High School athletics.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 62 years, Mary Lou; children: Gregory (Becky), Vincent (Linda), Monica, and Christopher (Stacie); 7 grandchildren; brothers: Bernie (Dawn) and Ray (Carol) and many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a brother, Francis.
