Bernice Vetter, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great " grandmother, died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Church of Saint Peter with Rev. Phil Schotzko officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in St. Peter. Visitation will be held from 4 " 7 p.m., with a 6:30 p.m., prayer service Friday at the church. Visitation continues one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Church of St. Peter or the donor's choice. St. Peter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bernice Alice Vetter was born August 7, 1924 to Frederick and Caroline (Nemitz) Homer in Sherburn, Minnesota. She graduated from Kasota High School. Bernice was united in marriage to Walter Vetter on June 4, 1945 at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Peter, Minnesota. Bernice and Walter owned and operated Vetter Sales and Service. During her life Bernice was a member of Church of St. Peter, former CCW of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Kasota American Legion Auxiliary, Mankato VFW Auxiliary, Kasota Fire Department Auxiliary, Kasota Booster Club, Campfire Girls, and a den mother of the Cub Scouts.

Bernice enjoyed the great outdoors with time at the lake, fishing, hunting, and camping. She also enjoyed sewing, crafts, and loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. She will be greatly missed by them all.

Bernice is survived by her husband of 66 years, Walter Vetter of Kasota; three children, James (Nancy) Vetter of Kasota, Kathy (Dean) Steiner of St. Peter, Jerry (Cathy) Vetter of North Mankato; five grandchildren, Kimberly (Mark) Giebel of Mankato, Michael (Erika) Steiner of Farmington, MN; Dustin Vetter of Panama City, FL, Ryan (Anne) Vetter of Eagan, MN, Jason Vetter and special friend, Jaimie Farel of St. Louis Park, MN; four great-grandchildren, Anthony Vetter, Aydon Vetter, Andrew and Steven Giebel; sister-in-law, Beverlee Homer Clifton of North Mankato, MN; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Albert, Vernon "Spike", and Walter.
