Norma M. Suderman, age 88 of St. Peter died on Monday, May 28, 2012 at the River's Edge Hospital in St. Peter.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Union Presbyterian Church in St. Peter with Rev. Andy Davis officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed toward the church. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Norma Mae was born on December 28, 1923 in Inman, Kansas to David V. and Marie (Balzer) Unrau. She was schooled in Kansas and was united in marriage to Elmer F. Suderman on August 27, 1946. Elmer taught at several Mennonite colleges while completing his Ph.D. in English at Kansas University. When Elmer accepted a professorship at Gustavus Adolphus College, Elmer, Norma & children relocated to St Peter in 1960. Norma worked at the Gustavus Bookstore for many years, retiring in 1989. She was active at Union Presbyterian Church, in the church choir and the St. Peter Community Choir.
Norma is survived by her children: Amy (Roy) Zimmermann and James (Barbara) Suderman; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; a sister: Ruth (Art) Schmidt; and many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer in 2003 and a sister: Delia Dyck.
