Richard Beckman, age 75 of St. Peter, and formerly of Le Sueur and Rochester passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at the St. Peter Community Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2007 at St. Peter Funeral Home -Klein Chapel. Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2007 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Richard was born on May 15, 1932 to Ellsworth and Mayme (Heoft) Beckman in Madelia, MN.He was a 1950 graduate of St. James High School. Richard enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1956. He married Darlene Mickelson in 1953 and together they had four children. They were later divorced. In 1991 Richard was united in marriage to Judith Blaschko. Richard worked for IBM as a computer programmer, retiring in 1973. He was active in the MN Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America and the MS Society. He enjoyed playing cribbage and computer games, watching birds, and was a nature lover.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Beckman of St. Peter; four children, Liann (Randy) Larson of Owatonna, Kerry (Mary Robinson) Beckman of Amboy, Rod (Lisa) Beckman of Monticello, Lorri Hauer of Owatonna; four step-children, Herb Rettig of Minneapolis, Micaela (Randy) Biehn of Cleveland, Lezlie (David) Rohlfing of Madison Lake, Stacia (Steve Gorman) Collins of Roseville; 24 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce (Don) Sokolofsky; brother, Bill (Gloria) Beckman.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Roger Beckman.
