Richard B. Johnson, 84, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2013 surrounded by his wife and family.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 6, 2013 at First Lutheran Church in St. Peter with Rev. Alan Bray officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the start of the service at the church. St. Peter Funeral Home " Klein Chapel is assisting with arrangements.

Richard was born on June 7, 1928 to Ted and Lillian (Bolvig) Johnson and lived his entire life on the family farm in Oshawa Township, Nicollet County. He graduated from St. Peter High School in 1947 and attended U of MN Agriculture School. He served in the U.S. Army and on August 29, 1953 he married Joanne Dranttel. After his retirement from farming he drove bus for Mankato Land to Air and could be seen regularly working at the Nicollet County Fairgrounds, Johnson Hall and assisting Herberg Auctioneering. He served on the Oshawa Township Board for several years and as President of the Nicollet County Fair Board for 20 years. Johnson Hall at the Nicollet County Fairgrounds is named in his honor. He was a member of the American Legion, Red Men Club and Minnesota Dairy Association.

Richard was very proud of his family and is survived by his wife Joanne, sons: David and wife Jan, Robert (Shorty) and special friend Kathryn, Edward and special friend Kristine, Bruce and wife Barbara; Grandchildren: Bill and wife Stacey, Cyndi and husband Jordan, Samantha, Emily and Fianc" Ryan, Madalyn, Christopher, Molly and Jameson (JD); Great-Grandchildren: Matthew and Alixandra; Brothers and Sister-in-laws: John (Butch) and Carol Dranttel, Ron and Nancy Fierst and their families.

Richard was preceded in death by granddaughters: Lora and Sara, an infant twin brother at birth and his parents.
