Allan Gene Splittgerber

Allan Splittgerber was born October 24, 1940 in Norfolk, NE to Esther and Eldor Splittgerber. He lived in Albion, Nebraska until 1958 when he attended the University of Nebraska with a chemistry major.

In 1962 he married Pat McIntyre and they moved to Boulder, Colo. where he completed his PhD in physical and biochemistry. He enjoyed camping and hiking in the Rockies and national parks.

In 1966 he joined the Gustavus Adolphus faculty where he taught chemistry for the next 44 years. He was a patient teacher with students who found chemistry a challenge. Allan was an avid bridge player. He was easy going and loved a good joke, word games and puzzles, and a good detective series.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, children Lisa (Bob) Loftis, Jon (Fran) Splittgerber, brother-in-law Duane Counter, several Mclntyyre in-laws, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and only sister Joyce, who died April23, 2026.

Allan "Splitty" Splittgerber passed away July 24, 2026 at Ecumen Prairie HII. No services are planned at this time. The family requests no donations. The family expresses their gratitude for the many people at Ecumen Prairie Hill and Ecumen hospice for their tender care.
