Arnold Nimps, 95 year old resident of Kasota, MN passed away January 11, 2024, at Pheasants Ridge Assisted Living in St. Peter, MN.
Graveside service will be 10:00am Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Kasota Hill Cemetery in Kasota, followed by a Celebration of Life from 11:00am-1:30pm at the Gustavus Arboretum in St. Peter.
Arnold was born February 18, 1928 to the late Chester and Eleanor (Nason) Nimps.
Arnold attended St. Peter High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was a commander of Kasota American Legion Post 508. He was employed 41 years at St. Peter Regional Treatment Center. In retirement, he audited many classes at Gustavus Adolphus College. He traveled to Canada, England, Scotland, Hawaii and numerous other states with his wife Joan and children. He welcomed family and friends to his beloved cabin on German Lake. He enjoyed watching birds and wildlife. He had a passion for flowers and his yard looked like a park.
He was married to the love of his life, Joan, for 71 years. He is survived by his nine children: Laura (Allen) Windhorn; Philip Nimps; Mary (Gary) Campbell; Arnie (Lori) Nimps; Greg (Peggy) Nimps; Shawn Nimps; Lisa Hemp; Martin (Fay) Nimps; Teresa (Dale) Thisius; 14 grandchildren: Jonas Windhorn, Claire (Jeremy) Zimprich; Jenny (Dustin) Olsen, Nolan Nimps; Jonathan (Susan) Campbell, Aaron Campbell; Nate (Shannon) Nimps, Chris Nimps, Michelle (Brent) Jones; Adam (Kayleigh) Nimps, Kelly (Mike) Miskowiak; Jessica Lowe; Mitch (Emily) Thisius, Jeff (Maureen) Thisius; nine great-grandchildren, brother Ronald (Delores) Nimps, and many nieces and nephews.
Arnold is preceded in death by his wife Joan, parents Chet and Eleanor Nimps, brother Owen Nimps, and son-in-law Peter Hemp.
He was a tender father and grandfather. He will truly be missed.
