Bernice M. Youngman

Bernice M. Youngman, age 90, of St. Peter, died on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at River’s Edge Hospital and Clinic, St. Peter.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Church of St. Peter. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Sleepy Eye. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bernice, the daughter of Harvey and Margaret (Simon) Simning, was born on June 18, 1932 in Wabasso, MN. She loved playing clarinet in the high school marching band and was proud that her grandchildren were involved in band and orchestra. Bernice graduated with her nursing degree from the College of St. Catherine. She married Ralph V. Youngman on June 19, 1954 in Wabasso. Bernice was a registered nurse at the St. Peter Community Hospital for over 35 years. She also volunteered with hospice in St. Peter for almost 30 years, volunteered with religious services at the Benedictine Community Living for 15 years and was a Catholic Daughter. Bernice enjoyed baseball, gardening, and birds, particularly cardinals.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Scott) Mayhew of Rochester; grandchildren, Nick (Carlin) Mayhew of St. Cloud and Kate Mayhew of Rochester; and nephew, Kevin (Gloria) Kuester of Grundy Center, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ralph in 2000.
