Bobbi (Robert Charles) Hanson passed away on April 18, 2020 at the age of 87 after several years of declining health.
Bobbi was born in Kasota Township, Minnesota on July 26, 1932. She overcame difficult circumstances and embraced a life filled with adventure, family, friends and music. She credited a teacher at the State School for the Blind in Faribault for fostering a love of music.
For twelve years she played accordion in a modern jazz dance band and traveled with friends to hear bands playing in Minnesota and Wisconsin. She said, "we went where we SEEN the bright lights!"
She also played and repaired pipe organs and enjoyed the organ music at Cicero's and the Heights theater.
Bobbi was a Telephone Pioneer and retired after a career with Northwestern Bell/USWest.
She owned and maintained her home in Northeast Minneapolis where she cared for her mother Laura in her later years.
She was very proud of her work as a crew member of the Dar-Ja, a 55 foot, two-masted sailboat on the St. Croix River. She loved to be out "paddling" in a canoe, too.
Bobbi's family thanks the staff at New Perspective Independent Living for their care.
We are very grateful for the staff at Brighton Hospice who provided excellent care during Bobbi's last days.
A memorial will be held at a later date at Culver's on Silver Lake Road.
