Charles "Charlie" Austin Guenther, 93, of St Peter, died November 23, 2025.
Mass of the Resurrection will be 11:00am Saturday, December 13, 2025 at the Catholic Church of St Peter, St. Peter. Burial with military honors will be at Calvary Cemetery, St. Peter. Visitation will be 2 hours before the service. St Peter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Charles was born January 20, 1932 in Brandon Township, Douglas County, MN. His parents were Rudolph and Isabella (Joos) Guenther. He grew up on the family farm and attended Country School District #37 and Brandon High School. He married Lillian Roers June 23, 1953 at Seven Dollars Catholic Church, Millerville, MN.He entered the U.S. Army in 1954 and served in the Army of Engineers in Korea and Japan. From 1956 to 1966 he managed an artificial insemination unit for Minnesota Valley Breeders, then from 1966 until his retirement in 1994, he worked as a maintenance supervisor for the State of Minnesota. He was a long-time volunteer at the Church of St Peter and the Calvary Cemetery, maintaining and landscaping; also serving on the Church Finance Council and as Cemetery Treasurer. He also enjoyed volunteering at the American Legion, and Boy Scout Troop #83 of Rochester. Charles also really enjoyed going fishing with his family.
Charles is survived by his children: Mitchell Guenther, and Lisa (Keith) Cramer; Grandchildren: Sara, Anna, Cody (Shayna), and Courtney (Kaelen) Kosse; Great-Grandson: Clayton Guenther.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; wife, Lillian; Sister, Lavern (August) Ledermann; Brothers: Walter, Thomas, and Gus; and Son, Douglas.
