Cletus W. Wenner

Cletus W. Wenner, age 90, of Nicollet, died Tuesday, September 10, 2025.

Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Nicollet. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Monday, September 15 and will continue one hour before service on Tuesday all at the church. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Nicollet. St. Peter Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Catholic Church or St. Croix Hospice.

Cletus was born May 17, 1935, to Wendell Z. and Anna (Hiniker) Wenner Sr., in Mapleton, MN. He graduated from Nicollet High School in 1954. Cletus served his country with the U.S. Army from 1954-56.

Cletus was united in marriage to Marlys M. Meurer on June 11, 1957, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Belgrade Township.

Cletus was employed by Marigold Dairy, Dunlop Meats, Oshawa Elevator, and Gustavus Adolphus College.

Cletus enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in sports, woodworking, hunting, fishing, and most of all spending time with his family.

Cletus is survived by his four children, Tim (Mary) Wenner of Nicollet, Tami (Brian) Randall of Mason City, IA, Monica (Kirk) Johnson of St. Louis, MO, and Mike (Lana) Wenner of Nicollet; grandchildren, Nate (Amanda) Wenner, Sarah (Aaron) Reinhart, Holly (Ben) Sebesta, Lindsey Fitzgerald, Ben (Elise) Johnson, Becky Johnson (fiancé, Hector Alfonseco), Tyler Wenner, Kayla Wenner (significant other, Mick Schuller); great-grandchildren, Tegan and Dane Wenner, Charlotte and Jaxon Sebesta, Danny and Nora Johnson; siblings, Ken (Phyllis) Wenner, Wendell Wenner Jr., and Donna Zins; sister-in-law, Margie Wenner; nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Cletus was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marlys in 2015; grandson, Lucas Fitzgerald; siblings, Marianne Sohre, Gene, Don, Mert, and Clifford Wenner; and extended family.
