Donald H. Peterson

Donald H. Peterson, age 102, of Shoreview and formerly of St. Peter, died Wednesday, March 13, 2024.   A private graveside service was held on March 20, 2024, at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Peter, MN.  A memorial service will be held 2:00pm Friday, May 17, 2024 at Union Presbyterian Church, St. Peter, with visitation one hour prior.  Memorials to the Union Presbyterian Church are preferred. 

Born on May 4, 1921, in Mankato, MN to Edgar and Mabel Peterson. After graduating from Mankato High School, he attended Mankato Commercial College.  He served in the US Army during WWII in the 237^th General Hospital Division in the US and Europe.  Upon returning from the war, he received his degree in architectural design and drafting from the Chicago Design and Technical College.  He worked as a draftsman and design engineer for Babcock Stone Company; Van Doren, Hazard and Stallings; and finished his career with Door Engineering, retiring in 1986.

Donald was united in marriage to Lois Rasmussen on June 27, 1948, in Mankato MN.   They moved to St. Peter, MN.  They were longtime members of the Union Presbyterian Church, where Don served on the Property and Finance committee for a number of years.  His hobbies were woodworking and furniture making, gardening, family genealogy, and being a general handyman for family and friends.   His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family and on trips and visits to various areas in the US and abroad.

Survived by daughter Diane (Brent) Hanson, granddaughters Emily (Joe) Serrano, Sarah Hanson, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife Lois, parents, brother Wilbur, sister Lorraine Erdmann, and granddaughter Abby Liberty.
