Elaine Mavis DeZeeuw, age 92 of St. Peter went into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, December 29, 2025 at Prairie Hills surrounded by loved ones.
Elaine was born in St. Peter to Conrad and Elmira (Karge) Johnson.
Elaine graduated from St. Peter Public Schools. Elaine and Ken met on a blind date arranged by friends. Interestingly, Elaine was a substitute for the original blind date, as the young woman who was supposed to meet Ken backed out. They married on June 7, 1953, and the rest is history. Several years later they welcomed their daughter, Kathy.
Elaine was an active member at the First Presbyterian Church of Kasota and enjoyed being in the church choir – Heaven's choir has now gained a beautiful singer. She worked at local banks and finished her career at the Minnesota School Board Association in St. Peter.
Elaine cherished time spent with her husband, especially making crafts together and attending local craft fairs. Puzzles and bird watching were interests she and Ken shared. She took great pride in keeping their checking account balanced to the very last penny.
Family activities were a great joy for Elaine and Ken. They faithfully attended their grandchildren’s activities and sporting events and became known as the “adoptive grandparents” to the teams. They received an award from the Cleveland Public Schools for being the most active and supportive fans.
As the grandchildren started families of their own, Elaine enjoyed her time with her six great grandchildren. We all felt very blessed that these children had the opportunity and love of great grandparents in their lives.
Left in her memory - her husband Ken; daughter Kathy (Brad) Wobbrock; two grandchildren, John (Heidi) Wobbrock and Maddie (Mitchell) Anderegg.
Six great grandchildren: Kylie and Lexi Wobbrock and Baizyl, Naivy, Mayple and Loyik Anderegg; along with many nieces and nephews
She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Harris (Louise) Johnson, Audrey (Floyd) Boucher, Shirley (Glenn) Jacobsen.
The family would like to thank the staff at Prairie Hills Memory Care for the wonderful care and compassion they provided Elaine during her final journey.
Visitation will be Monday, January 5, 2026 at 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Kasota and Memorial Service at 6:00 pm. There will be desserts and coffee following the service.
Private burial will be held at a later date.
