Evelyn D. (Huffman) Maas Gunderson, died August 16, 2024 at Meadow Woods Assisted Living in Bloomington, MN.
Funeral Mass is 11:00am Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, St. Peter with visitation beginning at 9:00am. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, St. Peter. To leave a condolence for the family, or view the service livestream visit www.saintpeterfuneralhome.com.
Evelyn was born January 19, 1930 to George and Selma (Rautio) Huffman in Great Falls, MT. She attended elementary country school and graduated from High School at Simms, MT in 1948. After graduation, she worked in Great Falls, where she met Richard Maas, who was stationed at the local Air Force base. They were married on June 3, 1950. They lived in Montana, Hawaii, and California before returning to St. Peter, his home town. Richard passed away March 24, 1970. Evelyn married Glenn Gunderson on October 30, 1981.
She was employed as a secretary in Great Falls, California and St. Peter, retiring in 1991 after 20 years with the St. Peter High School. After retiring she served as a volunteer for the school district, Red Cross Bloodmobile, and the St. Peter Food Shelf. She was a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries. Her hobbies included card playing, reading, traveling, and gardening. She especially enjoyed family get togethers with her families.
Evelyn is survived by: son, Doug (Diane); daughter Sharon (Frederick); step-daughters: Dianne (Don) Marth, and Cheryl (Tom) Ziegler; step daughter-in-law Mary Gunderson; sister-in-law Betty Maas; brother-in-law Paul (Marlene) Maas; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by husbands: Richard Maas and Glenn Gunderson; and parents: George and Selma Huffman; and step-son Brian Gunderson.
