He was born to Raymond and Mildred Johnson and raised and lived on the family farm all his life. He met the love of his life and married Jackie on February 14th 1976. They blessed their marriage with two sons. After having his heart attack Gary lived with his son Jeff and Jennie in their home still on the family farm until he needed more care with his Lewy Body Disease. He was then moved to New Richland Care Center where he was until he flew home.
He attended school in New Richland. After graduation he served in the Army Reserves and attended trade school in Austin Minnesota. Gary lived on the family farm with his family helping his father farm and later farmed himself, he then in his later years proudly watched Jeff farm. Gary also worked at OMC, Mustang, and Viracon in Owatonna for a few years while farming. He enjoyed driving truck with Jeff hauling Peas, Sweet Corn, Corn, Beans, and many other things. He enjoyed helping with the animals on the farm, especially the mini donkeys that magically appeared! He was most recently excited about earning the title of great bumpa to his first great granddaughter arriving in October.
Left here on earth to miss and grieve him are his sons and daughters-in-law Jeff & Jennie Johnson and Joe Johnson & Emma Schneider, grandchildren Samuel (Gretchen) Jewett and Robert (Addy) Jewett and Olivia & Paige Johnson, Sister and brother-in-law Barb & Dayton Draheim, Sister-in-law and husband Kathy & Ken Ryks, Brother-in-law's wife Sue Stark, four nieces (Nicole, Chantell, Ashley, & Toccara), eight nephews (Nathan, Ryan, Charlie, Jeremy, Joe, Josh, Mike, & Matt),fourteen great nieces and nephews (Gennie, Miles, Caleb, Brianna, Adrianna, Christian, Addison, Haley, Levi, Criox, Hannah, Hunter, Hazel & Callum).
Flying home before him was his wife Jackie, his parents Raymond & Mildred Johnson, his father and mother-in-law Marv & Bev Stark, his sister and brother-in-law Marie & Delbert Johnson, his brothers-in-law Roger, Wayne, and David Stark, and his great nephew Daniel Piepho.
