Genevieve Maude Miller

Jenny, more commonly known as Grammy J in certain social settings, would like to announce that her work here is done.  She has been offered an opportunity that she just couldn’t pass up.  For years she has commented on how this well-known facility has been overlooking her desires to be part of their team.  One can only imagine her excitement when she finally received the call.  Management swept her away from her home at Birchwood Cottages on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023.  The perks of this new position are out of this world.  She’ll have access to medical treatment that will cure all her aches and pains.  We’ve been told the access to ancestry links are quite fabulous through the company’s limitless network connections.  Her new mission takes her to a location where music, pets that snuggle, bingo, pull tabs, donation sorting and unlimited happy hours are in abundance.

She has left behind detailed instructions for many of her family members which are noted below.

Her daughter Cindy Erkel (and husband Bruce) are to make sure that family holidays continue to be an important time for gathering of family and friends. Her son David Beer (and wife Mari) are to make sure that all 5 of her great grandbabies have the opportunity to fish, play, swim and do all those things kids should be sure to do before they grow up and become old people.  Her brother Willie Peterson (and wife Cheryl) are to continue to be involved in State and National Senior Games, keep the trains running, bowling and shooting pool.  Her grandchildren Allison Beer, Marcus Beer (and Katie), Jacob Erkel (and Jordyn) are to just continue to make her proud as they always have done.  All of her foster children, nieces and nephews are to live the happiest, healthiest lives that they can and just be sure to carry on her legacy.

Family members who have been granted an opportunity at this facility prior to her joining the team will be waiting in HR to ensure that she has a comfortable transition into this new role.  They include Reuben H. Miller (spouse and father to Cindy) in charge of all fishing excursions, Edward F. Beer (former spouse and father to David) in charge of the motor pool, Myrtle Iseminger mother (head chef), William Bason father (maintenance), Lester Bason brother (safety and security), Clifford Peterson brother (printing press operator), Fern Peterson sister-in-law (chief happiness officer), Orville Miller brother-in-law (electrician), Florence Miller sister-in-law (head of music therapy) and MaryAnn Peterson sister-in-law (master gardener).

Jenny’s resume was quite the plethora of adventures along the way.  She started life as an only child.  Rumor has it she was born under a tree near St. Clair, Minnesota on June 8, 1928.  So she wouldn’t be spoiled too badly, her mother Myrt decided to give her three brothers named Lester, Clifford (Skip), and Willard (Butch/Willie).  When they weren’t hopping trains because they had no car, the family resided in Waterville, MN.  Jenny graduated from Waterville High School in 1947.  Past experience lists many things but those that stood out to HR were wife, mother, foster mother, bookkeeper, volunteer, bartender, printing press operator, pilot with the civil air patrol, 4-H leader, Sunday School teacher, American Legion Auxiliary District President, American Legion Auxiliary Chaplain, duck and chicken plucker, pull tab seller, and farmer’s assistant.  Her hobbies listed on the resume included bowling, marching color guard in parades, dancing, and volunteering at church, St. Peter Food Shelf and the Govenaires Thrift Store.  She most enjoyed making banana bread and handing it out to friends, loved ones and complete strangers expecting nothing in return but love.

A celebration of life will be held 12:00pm-4:00pm on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Patrick's on 3rd (125 S 3rd St in St. Peter) with Live Music & socializing from 4:00 into the evening. To leave a condolence, visit her obituary at www.saintpeterfuneralhome.com.
