Gregory G. Schoeb

Apr 10, 1955 — Jul 12, 2026

St. Peter, MN

Gregory (Greg) Gerard Schoeb, age 71, passed away July 12, 2026, at Oak Terrace of St. Peter, with family at his side.

Gregory was born April 10, 1955, in Mankato, MN to Clarence P. and Ruby I. (Lee) Schoeb of St. Peter, MN, and was baptized at the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Greg attended Central Elementary and graduated from St. Peter High School in 1974. He received a certificate in accounting from Hutchinson Technical School. He was an active member of the Lake Prairie Flyers 4-H Club.

Greg worked for Pickwick International, a music and record distributor in St. Louis Park, working in their warehouse and later Smead Manufacturing Company in Hastings, MN. In 1983, Greg than traveled to San Antonio, TX. with his sister Barbara Murphy Frank. He worked as a custodian at Robert E. Lee High School, the high school of former Minnesota Viking quarterback, Tommy Kramer. Greg was very proud of that! Greg retired in 2008 and moved back to St. Peter to be near his family.

Greg fought valiantly after being diagnosis with Lewy Body Dementia in early 2024. He never lost his dry sense of humor through it all. One example of a Gregism: while riding with his brother Bill, they found themselves behind a firetruck with a Dalmatian puppy riding in the back seat. Bill asked Greg what he thought the owner had named it. Greg replies; “Dottie!” Greg’s brother-in-law was rear ended while driving his three-quarter ton pick-up truck. Greg replied; “Well, that’s no way to make friends.”

Greg had favorite shows that he would watch religiously and set the alarm on his watch to let him know that the show was starting. Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and General Hospital were some of his favorites. However, wrestling was his favorite, where a schedule was made that hung next to his TV listing the channels, day and time wrestling started; five of seven days. Greg’s all-time favorite wrestling show, along with our Dad and brothers, was All Star Wrestling. So much, that it would be reenacted in the living room, much to our Mother’s displeasure.

Greg was an avid sports fan, especially the Minnesota Vikings and San Antonio Spurs, along with watching golf. Greg was a collector of baseball caps, amassing a collection of over 70! Greg was very proud of his 1973 El Camino. Wish we had this truck now. He enjoyed doing puzzles with his niece Maddie and word search games. He was also a consistent winner in Monopoly.

Gregory is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ruby Schoeb, sister Judy Kitzmann and brothers James, Robert and Jon. He is survived by his siblings: Barbara (Richard) Frank of Nicollet; William (Vicki) of Overland Park, KS; Jackie Schoeb-Johnson of St. Peter; Russell of St. Peter; sisters-in-laws: Marsha Schoeb of Woodstock, GA and Wendi Battist Schoeb of Reeseville, WI; nieces and nephews: Matthew and Philip Schoeb; Kristine Pearson and Kent and Kurt Kitzmann; Emily Schoeb; Samantha Chopp and Madalyn Johnson; Luke and Myranda Schoeb; Jacob and Jennifer Schoeb; along with great and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.

May thanks to the staff at (Pheasant Ridge) Oak Terrace of St. Peter for the wonderful care our brother received.
