Harold H. Hobday, age 82 of St. Peter, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019 at his home surrounded by family.
Memorial Mass will be 11:00am Friday at the Church of St. Peter with burial at Calvary Cemetery, St. Peter. Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00pm at the church Thursday and also 10:00am Friday. Condolences can be left at www.saintpeterfuneralhome.com.
Harold Herbert was born on September 15, 1936 to John and Irene (Wieland) Hobday. He was raised in LeSueur and enlisted in the US Navy after high school. He was honorably discharged and then attended chiropractic school in St. Louis MO. He returned to Minnesota, settling in St. Peter. On July 7, 1956 he was united in marriage to Patricia Thomas at the Church of the Nativity in Cleveland. He was employed with Randolph Body Shop for 10 years, and retired from Minnegasco as a service man. In retirement he then worked in maintenance at Gustavus Adolpus College.
Harold was a volunteer firefighter for St. Peter for 31 years, was active in the American Legion also serving on the Honor Guard, was a member of the Red Men, and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling to TX for over 20 years, watching the Twins and Vikings, garage sales, canning, BINGO and visiting with family and friends.
Left to remember Harold are his wife of 63 years, Pat; children: Ann (Martin) Mervin, Mary (Tim) Stier, Mike (Kristen) and Mark (fiancé Becky Daniel); grandchildren: Brady Mervin, Alex (Marissa) Mervin, Matthew (Tim Mechlinski) Murphy, Mitchell Stier, Joshua, Shannon and Danny (fiancé Larissa Hein) Hobday; siblings: Jack (Barb), and Marilyn Randolph; brother-in-law Leonard Tiede; sister-in-law Janet Krenik; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by infant daughter Janet, sister Jean (Donald) Miller and brother-in-law Jim Randolph.
