James V. Pursifull

James V. Pursifull, age 88, of St. Peter, died Monday, October 19, 2026.

Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 29, 2026, at St. Peter Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour before service. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, St. Peter.

James was born November 20, 1937, to Doyle and Pearl (Minnick) Pursifull in Huntington, Indiana. He graduated from North Phoenix High School in 1956. James enlisted with the U.S. Airforce in 1956, serving at Ft. Snelling and Canada and was honorably discharged in 1960.

James was united in marriage to Donna M. Sherwin on April 2, 1959. James was a meat cutter/manager for many years and in 1980 James and Donna bought the Southside Motel in St. Peter which they ran for 22 years.

James was a lifelong Hoosier Fan and in his youth he followed the Ft. Wayne Pistons which became the Detroit Pistons. Later in life he enjoyed his friendship with Whitey Skoog of the Lakers. James enjoyed college basketball, the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, playing cards, horse racing, and curling in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed reading, especially western novels, old west movies, swing and dance band music, traveling, trips to Las Vegas, and time with family.

He will be remembered as a loving and caring man to all who knew him.

James is survived by three children, Kevin (Tess) Pursifull of San Diego, Steve Pursifull of Mankato, and Mark (Petra) Pursifull of Elysian; five grandchildren, Elizabeth (Brad) Olsen, Donna Rose (Daniel) Pursifull, J.A. (Tina) Pursifull, Katelyn (Martin) Noyola, and Bryce Pursifull; three great-grandchildren; brother, Vern (Martha) Pursifull of Huntington, Indiana; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Sherwin of Waverly, MN; nieces, nephews, and extended family.

James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna in 2006; daughter, Linda Galuz; granddaughter, Michelle Pursifull; siblings, Carl Pursifull, Doyle (June) Pursifull, Geraldine (Virgil) Scheer, Loyal (Betty) Pursifull, and Barb (Glen) Scarborough.
