Jeanette “Jeanie” Sharon Heilman, age 80, of Kasota passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024.
Visitation will be held from 4-7pm, Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the St. Peter Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 11am, Friday, May 17, 2024 at the First Presbyterian Church of Kasota with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Kasota Hill Cemetery.
Jeanie was born on January 1, 1944 at home in Henderson, MN to the parents of Lyndon and Norene (Krueger) Maas. She was known as “Little Miss 1944” because she was the first baby born in the new year! She was the fifth of seven children. When Jeanie was eleven years old the family sold the farm and moved to Kasota, MN. She graduated from St. Peter High School in 1961. She resided in Kasota for most of her adult life with a brief time residing in St. Peter, MN after her marriage to Paul V. Heilman on December 8, 1961 in St. Peter, MN. They had three daughters from 1970 to 1978. Jeanie worked at ADC in St. Peter for a short time before having children. Until her children were in school full time, Jeanie stayed home and raised her children, as well as providing in-home daycare to many other children that she loved like her own. In 1984, Jeanie ventured out of the home and started working at Gustavus Adolphus College in the custodial department and eventually became lead custodian while she worked there for 25 years. She retired in 2009 to enjoy a well deserved break to enjoy her family and all of her grandchildren.
Jeanie enjoyed gardening and plants, quilting, reading, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and spending every possible moment with her family that she could. She enjoyed watching anything her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were doing including sports, theater, choir, show choir or basically anything they were involved in.
Jeanette is survived by her children, Lisa (Doug) Vickstrom, Coralie (Mark) Petersen, and Kristal Heilman; grandchildren, Scott (Caden), Shannon (Jeremy), Norene (Jacob), Stephen, and Morgan; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Gloria Burg, Dayle (Betty) Maas, and Darwin (Joy) Maas; sister-in-law, Carol Maas, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; parents, Lyndon and Norene; siblings, Naomi (Ruben) Schultz, Wayne Maas, Carole Wilde, and brother-in-law, Bill Burg.
