Joan M. Walter, age 88 of St. Peter died Monday, December, 12, 2022 Benedictine Living in St. Peter.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00am Thursday, December 22, 2022 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter with burial at Calvary Cemetery in St. Peter. Joan Margaret was born July 27, 1934 in Le Sueur, MN to Wilfred and Florence (Meger) Meyer. She graduated from Le Sueur High and continued her studies at the College of St. Benedict. She was united in marriage to Ralph R. Walter on April 14, 1956 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Le Sueur. They made their home in St. Peter and Joan worked for many years as a legal secretary for Schmitz and Woods Law office. In retirement she worked at the St. Peter Community Hospital in the kitchen. Joan was active at church with the Catholic Daughters and the Funeral Lunch Committee. She also was a member of the St. Peter American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries. She enjoyed knitting and adored time with her grandkids and family.

Left to remember Joan are her children: Kathy (Jim) Conlon, Mike (Brenda) Walter, and Nancy (Butch) Brey; 6 grandchildren: Jessica (Javier) Ramirez, Brian Conlon, Jeff (Crystal) Walter, Erica (Alec Bethke) Walter, Kaitlyn Brey, and Mackenzie Brey; 3 great grandchildren: Bianca and Renata Ramirez, and Layla Bethke; sister-in-law Joan Meyer; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2007; brother, Melvin Meyer; and 2 sisters: Geraldine Meyer and Norma (Ray) Fay.
