Joan Fay Williams, age 92, of St. Peter passed away on July 1, 2026. Private family services will be held.
Joan was born on October 14, 1933 to Leonard and Arla (Olson) Krause. She attended country school for eight years, and graduated from Amboy High School in 1951. Joan worked at the University of Minnesota, St. Paul, Interstate Power Company in Winnebago, MN and Gustavus Adolphus College.
Joan married Merwin C. Williams in 1955 and then lived in Lake Crystal. They had two sons, Jerry Wayne and Paul Bradley. Later on, Joan and Merwin moved to St. Peter.
Joan loved animals, and spent many years training her Sheltie in dog obedience. She traveled to several states and into Canada to enter dog shows, where they won many trophies and awards.
Joan was active in Kiwanis and the Diplomats of the St. Peter Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of First Lutheran Church, St. Peter. Her hobbies included reading, playing bridge and Pfeffer cards, shopping, decorating, going to plays and concerts, working on crossword puzzles, watching movies, and dining with friends.
Joan traveled to many states by car and took several bus trips out east, and to the western states. She also went on a river cruise on the Rhine in Europe in 2013.
Joan is survived by her son, Jerry; grandsons, Joseph Paul, and Michael Andrew, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Arla Krause; husband, Mer; son, Paul; brother-in-law, Burton Williams, and sister-in-law, LaVerne Williams.
