Kathryn Marie Miest

Kathryn M. Miest of St. Peter passed away at home on Saturday, August 21, 2021.

The memorial service is 2:00 PM Saturday, September 4, 2021, at St. Peter Funeral Home. 

Kathryn Marie was born March 2, 1951, in Madelia, Minnesota, to Gordon and Margaret (nee Wolter) Wolle. After Gordon died in a farming accident in 1951, Margaret married Reuben Gerdes in 1953, and together they raised Kathy and her sisters in Madelia. She graduated from Madelia High School and worked as a bookkeeper and office assistant for various businesses in the area while raising her three children. In addition to a devotion to family, Kathy enjoyed crafts, sewing, quilting, and gardening, and she had a great love for animals.

Left to remember Kathy are her children: Chris (Barb) Miest, Becky Miest, and Traci Carlson; grandchildren: Sawyer (Megan) Miest, Danica (Austin) Haslip, Sten Carlson, and Trygg Carlson; great-grandchildren Kira and Novabelle Haslip; sisters: Karen (Bill) Olson, Laraine MacKenzie, and Vicki Gerdes; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and kind neighbors and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Gordon, Margaret, and Reuben.
