It sorrows us deeply to share with you all, our beloved Kely passed on the morning of April 22nd, 2025 at Hennepin County Medical Center. Our family mourns the unexpected passing of our Sunshine at the tender age of 22 years young. Keliann "Kely" Marie Skalsky of Webster, WI was born on September 3rd, 2002 in Robbinsdale, MN to Amy Tervo and Kalle Skalsky.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or cards, share a random act of kindness in honor of Keliann.
Kely grew up and lived most of her life in Hudson, WI, where her sisters and her were often seen riding their bikes, playing in the sand lot, or enjoying other outdoor adolescence games and adventures around the neighborhood, or building snow forts during the winter months. One of the things Kely loved most was running, whether it was on a track, or through a field, or down a gravel road and sometimes even carrying her dog Xavier in the many adventures they had together. Keliann always loved animals, yet she had a very special connection with horses, whether on the ground or riding. She often said they were like having a piece of heaven here on earth.
Kely moved to Northfield, MN in 2019 where she rediscovered her love for working with her hands and helping people in any way she could. Some of her Hobbies were: reading books, listening to music, hunting and fishing, going for short road trips to surrounding bodies of water or other places that caught her attention, making short videos to document her daily adventures, including burning almost anything she tried to cook. She found her passion for hydraulics and getting herself covered in oil, dirt and grease in High School, it was something she was good at and loved the hard work and adventure of discovering what needed to be fixed.
Keliann worked very hard to graduate from Minnesota Online High School in March of 2022, so she could truly become an adult, live on her own and have an adult job working as a hydraulics technician in the field on Aerial and Heavy Ag equipment. She had plans to build her career within this focus and potentially continue her education to do so. It was during this time she bought her 2005 Chevy 2500 Cateye Duramax diesel truck, which Kely drove like she stole it and never seemed to understand the meaning of driving slow! One always knew she was coming as her beloved truck roared down the road with both front windows rolled down and the music blaring and Kely singing/ smiling/ laughing and jamming to that days favorite song.
Kels could make people feel like they were long lost friend shortly after meeting and she brought so much joy and sunshine to the world around her. She always remembered important things such as what people liked and disliked when she was waitressing and tending the bar or if they were owners of a horse boarded at the barn she worked at.
Kely was a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, partner, loved one, and friend to more people than even she was aware of. She is survived by her parents Amy (Paul Lehti) Tervo and Kalle (Amanda) Skalsky, and her sisters Abagehl Bering (nieces Zaleigh and Emerson, nephew Theodore), Alexandra (Cam) Skiba, Aleeya Skalsky, and Anikka Skalsky as well as numerous other family members and close family friends. Her soulmate Dakota Wells, her best friend and love whom she’s left to move forward in this life without her presence by his side way too soon.
She is preceded in death by both her maternal grandparents Elden and Rita Tervo, her aunt Marsha Tervo, and her paternal grandfather Francis Skalsky, as well as several close relatives and friends.
Her courageous spirit, adventurous soul, and mischievous pixie smile will be sorely missed by all who loved and knew her. If you are wondering how best to honor our Kels, please take the time to notice someone having a rough day and buy them a bouquet of flowers, or a coffee, or even a meal in the spirit of her generous caring nature to help those around her have a better day.
Fly high and ride fast Keliann, we will alway and forever love you!!
