Lucille "Lucy" Neils

Lucille "Lucy" Neils, age 94, died on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at the Benedictine Living Center in St. Peter, MN.

Lucille was born on January 31, 1926 to Alfred and Edna Meyer in Courtland, Minnesota. She graduated from New Ulm High School in 1943 and was employed by Red Owl in New Ulm as a cashier and bookkeeper. She married Roland Neils on April 9, 1946 at the Courtland Evangelical Lutheran Church and subsequently lived in New Ulm, Bristol, South Dakota and St. Peter.

Lucy was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ladies’ Aid and the WELS Lutheran Seniors. She loved being with her family, her birthday club, and card clubs. She enjoyed watching the Gophers, Twins and Vikings as well as all her children’s and grandchildren’s school activities.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Edna Meyer of Courtland, and her husband Roland. She is survived by her special sister Lois Stankey (Mankato), brother-in-law Herbert Neils and sister-in-law Orpha Neils. Family members include Linda and Les Mull (Sparta, WI), Steven and Yvonne Neils (Woodbury, MN), Lori and Jerry Ewings (DeForest, WI), Jane Neils (Cottage Grove, MN) and Terry and Amy Neils (Mankato, MN) as well as sixteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren.
