Aug 24, 1938 — Sep 1, 2026

St. Peter, MN

Marcia Alla Fosburgh, age 88 of St. Peter, went to be with her Savior on September 1, 2026. A funeral service will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 26th, at 2:00p.m., with the Rev. Matthew Rauh presiding. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. To watch the service livestream visit www.saintpeterfuneralhome.com.

Marcia was born on August 24, 1938 to John and Ottilie Best in Chatfield, MN. She graduated from Chatfield High School in 1956 and from Winona State University in 1960.

Marcia married Donald Clayton Fosburgh on August 7, 1960 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Chatfield, MN. They moved to Wadena, MN, where both Don and Marcia taught in the public schools. While in Wadena, their son, David, was born.

In 1963, they moved to St. Peter, MN, as Don accepted a teaching position in the high school. Their son, Robert, was born two years later.

Marcia was a substitute teacher and a teacher aide in the St. Peter Elementary Schools for many years. She was very active in her church (St. Peter Lutheran) as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, and she served in the Ladies Aid. For several years she enjoyed her volunteer work for PROP (People Reaching Other People), and in later years at the Benedictine Living Community and Ecumen Prairie Hill.

Marcia treasured her friendships, which centered around church, her neighbors, Bible studies, elementary and high school faculty, card club, and her birthday celebration group. She especially enjoyed the times when she and Don and both of her children and their spouses and all of her grandchildren could be together. She took great pleasure in reading to all of her grandchildren when they were young, and in doing word puzzles and playing board games with them around the dining room table.

She is survived by sons David (Valerie) Fosburgh of Lake Mary, FL and Robert (Donna) Fosburgh of Mankato, MN; grandchildren, Katie Castillo (CJ), Claire, Kira Hansen (Josh), Blake and Lexi; great-grandchild Ellie Hansen; sister Eleanor (Riley) Hinzmann, and eight nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents; and her brother, Norman.
